After his time at the DA’s Office, Cornett worked for ITT Corporation as an in-house counsel where he managed various ligation matters involving labor & employment, environment, contract, and compliance. When ITT was split into three publicly traded companies he began working for Starwood Inc. which owed Sheraton and Westin Hotels. Cornett left Starwood to briefly work as Interim Director of Harlem Legal Services. He would return to one of the spurns-off ITT companies as Director of Corporate Compliance. At the time, his primary focus was to defend the company which was been fined 100 million dollars for compliance violations involving the defense industry regulations involving the US Army and Navy. His job was to develop a compliance program, revised the company code of conduct, and implement an audit program and a worldwide compliance training program that highlighted anti-corruption for Europe, South America, Africa, India, Asia, and Russia. ITT Industries split again into three companies, and Cornette transferred to Xylem Inc. where his initial assignment was to develop a Code of Conduct. Cornette managed and supervised internally-sensitive investigations and would go on to revise, develop and implement compliance training worldwide, which included in-person simultaneous training.
Today, Cornette handles many legal matters involving criminal, family law, and contract law.
